On May the 16th Terje for the first time performed on a new made instrument made out of glass. The instrumenta are made at Galleri S12 by Æsa Bjørk Thorsteinsdottir and the other atirsts at the art Gallery.

Ice Music Tour January till April 2007 - Daily News


The Worlds first Ice music tour is a success. Everything works out as planned so far.Here you will find daily updates from the tour.

January the 10th: Alta - arrival of the Ice Truck. No instruments broken during transportation!















January the 11th: Alta,the first concert - 12 degrees below zero, no wind & sky clear.
January the 12th: Kautokeino - at one o clock we played for a school in minus 27.
January the 12th: Kautokeino - evening concert in 33 degrees BELOW zero. Extremely beautiful. The instruments sounded very crispy and nice. The concert was recorded.















January the 13th: Our Ice truck broke down in the middle of the mountains - too cold. Too cold for some of our cables also - broke in to two pieces.
















January the 14th: Karasjok -evening concert in 32 degrees below zero. No wind. Accompanied by the fantastic Northern Light we played our nature music. The concert was recorded.














January the 15th: Kasjok - concert for the local school. 29 degrees below zero.
January the 16th: Tana - evening concert. It was 14 degrees below zero only. For us the feeling was very warm! Light snow in the air - beautiful.

January the 17th: The crew is working on getting a new car for transporting the ice to south of Norway.
January the 18th:Concert in Vadsø. 3 degrees below zero only. Light wind. Northern Light.














January the 19th. Concert for the local school. In perfect conditions.
January the 20th: The Ice crew are taking some of the ice instruments to Kirkenes by car. They continues their drive all the way to the huge fridge at Geilo.
January the 21:The crew & the ice arrives at Geilo. Instruments are stored in a huge fridge.

















January the 26th: Concert at Hovden. 8 degrees below zero. The moon is looking at us. Nice.



January the 27th: Concert in Skien by Ibsenhuset. Approximately 350 people came to listen to Sara Marielle and Terje this evening. Minus 10 and no wind.The Moon was still there.




















January the 28th: Going to the North again preparing concerts in Kirkenes. These concerts are to be hold in an old culture building - not more in use: "Malmklang". Indoor it is minus 10 right now.









The arranger of the festival Barentsspektakkel has put snow into the house. Eric Mutel has designed a fantastic spectacular stage. Eric has worked here with a team for more than two weeks preparing this concerts.










January the 29th: Stephanida Borisova from East of Sibieria arrives for rehearsals. Peter Paelinck from Belgium arrives to make his Ice didgeridoo. We will together make a new musical setting - with The Ice as the master.

ICEFESTIVAL GEILO - FBRUARY 1 -4.

The Icefestival was a great success. The Moon was following us every night. Sky clear, no wind, stars and a lot of very good artists.

Iceconcerts in Japan:



















The Iceconcerts in Japan was a great success.
A lot of publisity resulted in a lot of audience.
On Saturday the 17th of February a traffic jam from Sapporo to the venue in Chitose was caused by the iceconcert.



February the 12th till the 16th: Chitose,Japan - building new ice instruments.

















February the 16th: Ice Concert in Chitose - Japan together with Arve Henriksen on Icetrumpet & voice and Asle Karstad doing the PA sound. Concert was recorded. It was minus two degrees and perfect ice music weather. Approximently 300 people came to listen.



February the 17th: Ice Concert in Chitose - Japan together with Arve Henriksen on Icetrumpet & voice and Asle Karstad doing the PA sound. Concert was recorded. It was minus two degrees and perfect ice music weather. Approximently 600 people came to listen.

March the 6th: Eidsvoll - Norway. Arve Henriksen on Icetrumpet & voice Terje Isungset on ice and Asle Karstad doing the PA sound. Concert was recorded. It was rainy and plus 3 degrees. Very hard for making icemusic, but it worked out well thanks to the fridge car and the ice helper Christian Westergård. 100 people came to listen.

March the 7th: Concert in an Ice Cathedral at Hunderfossen - Lillehammer. Arve Henriksen, Terje Isungset and Asle Karstad.Perfect conditions for ice music. The fantastic nice room was full of warm & nice people, so some of the instruments melted. (sold out)

March the 9th: Concert at the festival Vinterfestspillene i Bergstaden. (Røros) Silvia Moi (vocals), Jon Halvor Bjørseth (live samplings), Terje Isungset (Ice), Asle Karstad (sound). Minus 3 degrees,no wind - skyclear. (sold out - 300 people) The concert was recorded.

Amazingly beautiful.
200 people came to listen.

Det var ei imponert prinsesse Märtha Louise som fredag kom til Kikut for å vere utøvar på årets isfestival.Laurdag kveld skal ho opptre i igloen på Kikuttoppen. Der skal prinsessa fortelje eventyr frå HC Andersen si verd, medan Terje Isungset skal akkompagnere på 750 år gammal is frå Jostedalsbreen. – Veldig spennande og flott, sa Märtha Louise om isfestivalen då Hallingdølen trefte henne fredag ettermiddag. Då hadde Märtha og Terje øvd saman for fyrste gong, og dei såg absolutt ut til å ha funne tonen. Märtha Louise skal lese Snedronningen av HC Andersen – i ein iglo – noko ho karakteriserer som "svært stemningsfullt".– Det er fint å kunne vere med og gi ei annleis oppleving for barn og vaksne, seier prinsessa.

First Concert of Worlds first Ice Music Tour

Alta - North of Norway.




The Worlds first Ice Music Tour started in Alta on January the 11`th 2007. Sara Marielle Gaup and Terje Isungset performed.


It was clear sky - minus 12 degrees and no wind.
Perfect for playing on ice.

The next concert was held in Kautokeino on the following day.Minus 33 degrees and fantastic weather!

CD: Perkusjonist Terje Isungset har et av de mest markante, om ikke det mest markante uttrykket i norsk improvisasjonsmusikk. Med sine hjemmelagde instrumenter av stein, tre og is er han selve oversetteren av naturmystikk og urkraft til musikk, og hans nye «Two Moons» føyer seg bokstavelig talt vakkert inn i den etterhvert voluminøse plateproduksjonen hans.
DENNE gang handler det om is. Tonesyngende isperkusjon, ishorn, istrompet og menneskestemmer. Som medspiller har Isungset en annen umiskjennelig stemme, trompeter/sanger Per Jørgensen , og all musikken ble innspilt i en igloo på Geilo for nøyaktig ett år siden. En stemningsmalende monotoni, tidvis med noen utrolig lavfrekvente, dirrende bunner, brytes av diverse lyder/klanger i og utenfor fast rytmikk, og på toppen av det hele synger Jørgensen og Isungset ordløst, i det ene forløpet flammende som nordlyset, i det neste dempet som en avkreftet isbre. Til tider klinger det som en avantgardistisk urfolkmusikk eller et ekko fra en annen geologisk periode enn vår egen, men den dyptsyngende instrumentalmusikken er også en påminnelse om at mer is enn isinstrumentene går en uviss tid i møte.
