Terje Isungset making ice instruments for the Nansen/Amundsen year 2011

500 year old kern drilled ice from a glacier at Spitsbergen.
This is a part of Terjes new instrument: an "Sørpolofon". It is from the central part of Antarctica! The ice is 100 till 150 years old, from the days Roald Amundsen was walking on the Pole.
